Harvest
Published in Audio Cassette by Chivers Audio Books (October, 1997)
Authors: Belva Plain and Kate Harper
Average review score:

Wonderful story
This book tells a great story of a great family. It keeps you wondering what will happen up until the end of the book. I would not describe it as a fast paced book, but the pace that the story is told in is just the right pace to entrap your wonder of the family. The book begins with e Jewish family moving to the United States right before the war. The life that the main character, Anna, has in the United States is a great story. Highly recommended!

GRAND FINALE!!!
Wonderful conclusion of the family saga which started with "Evergreen" takes place from the 1960's to the Vietnam War.....Some members of the Werner family and Anna's family become involved with the anti-Vietnam movement while other members are in Vietnam fighting against Communisim take over of the country.......Paul Werner returned, opening old wounds and struggles to help Anna Friedman's family......This sweeping family saga comes to a triumphant conclusion with this wonderfully passionate book........I just love Belva Plain's books and read them all.

Hijacked.
Published in Hardcover by Dodd Mead (January, 1970)
Author: David. Harper
Average review score:

The action thriller Hijacked lacks some suspense
I chose to read the novel Hijacked by David Harper. The book consists of 200 pages of suspense, however in my eyes it could have been better. The first 100 pages were very good. Many different events occur in those pages that give you clues on who the hijacker could be. However, the hijacker gets revealed at page 100! After that, the hijacker looses his villinous character and the story does not keep you on your toes. On the other hand, there are some chapters that include mild shootings, FBI happenings, and close calls in the airplane. The book could have been better by including more suspense, more action, and more clues to identifying the hijacker without actually identifying him. It was good, but lacked the intensity of an action-packed thriller!

WOW!
I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. The characters are phenominal and you really feel like you are a part of the story. Never a dull moment! I reccomend it to people who like planes, and anyone in for a good book!

Imaginative Inventions: The Who, What, Where, When, and Why of Roller Skates, Potato Chips, Marbles, and Pie (and More!)
Published in Hardcover by Little Brown & Co (Juv Pap) (September, 2001)
Author: Charise Mericle Harper

How do things get invented?
Did you know that there was life before Frisbees?
How long do you think doughnuts have been with us?
Who wanted the first pair of eyeglasses?
What about those Flat-Bottomed Paper Bags in which your parents bring home groceries?
Why did the passion for chewing gum stick?
Exactly how did the vacuum cleaner start sucking up dirt?

Questions, questions, odd & silly
answered in poems both factually & frilly!

A good book to start you wondering about how things got started & why.

Creative and Stimulating!
This book is a must for any parent who wants to stimulate their child's curiosity in the world--and what parent doesn't? The subject matter focuses on everyday items, but provides interesting, little-known facts about these inventions(and probably some fun, harmless fiction). Great for getting kids to start thinking creatively about where the things around them come from, and how big ideas are generated. The illustrations are cute and witty, with spectacular colors. Each invention provides a great launching point for discussion with your children. What more could you ask?

This book was recently listed on the Time magazine web site as one of six "best children's books you've never heard of." The "never heard of" part won't last long...The authors first book (yes, I bought that one too!) is equally thought provoking about children's goals early in life, yet also, charming and sweet.

Insight Guide Chicago
Published in Paperback by APA Productions (January, 1996)
Authors: Tim Harper, Chuck Berman, and Insight Guides
Average review score:

Bright Pictures with Dark Words
Insight Guide Chicago is a mine of useful information in an accessible format. This, however, is not what distinguishes the Insight Guide from books with a similar mission, such as Frommers or Fodors. What marks Insight Guide apart is its wonderful photographs, which provide the would-be tourist with a rich taste of what it must be like to spend time in this vibrant, world class, but still comfortably Midwestern city.

The other thing that sets this Insight Guide apart - even from others in the series - is the darkness of its text. If you read this book like a book, rather than a reference work (its stylish writing invites such use) you are regaled at every turn with tales of poverty, crime, corruption and racial division. That Chicago suffers from these problems is no doubt true but reading about them in a guidebook doesn't make me want to go there.

insight chicago
i found this chicago travel quide to be an exceptional difference in the usual "go here, do this" mentality of most tour books. the writing was insightful and thought-provoking, the information was straight forward and the photographs were exceptional. evidently a well thought out and researched book. even though this edition is somewhat dated (1999) i highly recommend this purchase.

Josie and the Pussycats
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Harper Mass Market Paperbacks (03 April, 2001)
Authors: Cathy East Dubowski, Jackie Jarosz, Jacqueline Jarosz, Deborah Kaplan, Harry Elfont, and Harper Entertainment

Josie Book Is Like Movie
I really enjoyed the book. I would not reccomend it to a person who saw the movie and did not like it. The book is obviousley almost exactly like the movie. Still a true josie And The Pussycats fan will enjoy the book. Also included inside the book is four pages (front and back) of pictures. At the end there is a section about how to be a rock star. I suggest it to most kids.

Wonderful Book
This is a wonderful book for anyone who has or has not seen the movie. If you haven't seen the movie, this book tells you what the movie is all about. You can practically see the movie in your head as the scenes are played out on the pages before you. If you saw the movie, this is a great way for you to remember the movie and to relive it all over again! This is a great book for anyone who loves Josie & the Pussycats or is unsure of what the movie is about.

Lightwing
Published in Paperback by Del Rey (July, 1992)
Author: Tara K. Harper
Average review score:

Interesting, funny, entertaining read.
All of Tara Harper's work is well-written with sympathetic characters and just the right amount of conflict. This one in particular is unusual from her other work in that it is strictly hard science fiction. But Tara really entertains in this little novel. A quick read, but wonderful and seamless in her storytelling. I thoroughly recommend it for one of those days you just want to get lost in a good story.

My Favorite Book of Ms. Harpers!
I absolutely loved this book and have read it many times. The sense of humor in it is absolutely wonderful. I still laugh when I re-read it (at least once a year), even though I know what is coming. I loved "Wolfwalker" and "Shadow Leader" too, but "Lightwing" is my favorite.

May Bells Daughter

Book On The Power Of Prayer and A Godly Mother's Influence
I throughly enjoyed this encouraging and candid book about how a Southern girl from poor circumstances overcame paraplegia's tragedy to become an influential and much sought after speaker and singer, through prayer and faith in the Lord Jesus. The influence of her simple but praying mother on her life. It is funny,a book that many people will be able to relate to. It is encouraging to see how God has used this young woman, given her a Godly husband and blessed them with two children. If you need hope, read this book. It is a simply written book about one young woman's life out of and in a wheelchair. If you liked "Joni" By Joni Eareckson Tada, you will like this book.

eva's book
The author does a fabulous job of allowing the reader to see into eva's heart. she is so vulnerable to allow the reader to see right into her. i loved the book and i love eva. she is a very influnential person to me personally. she is woman of faith and love. she is genuine in who she is. i strongly recommend this book. it also makes a great gift for seekers.

Morning Comes Softly (Harper Monogram)

Very Good Book!
I think almost anyone will enjoy this book. If you love her other books, then you will enjoy this one.

You'll get hooked on Macomber
Morning Comes Softly was the first romance novel I ever read. At the age of 18, I watched the titles that my mother read, and found the one with a pretty cover on the bookshelf. When I picked up the book I was not able to put it down. Since then, I always go straight to the "M" section of the bookstore first, to see if she has written anything new. Once you read this, or any of Debbie's books, you will be hooked on her and will read anything that you can get your hands on. (I recommend going to used bookstores to find some of her earlier stories.) Enjoy!

The Rough Guide to Florida (3rd Ed)
Published in Paperback by Rough Guides (October, 1996)
Authors: Mick Sinclair, Laura Harper, Oliver Marshall, Tony Mudd, and Rough Guides
Average review score:

"Rough Guide" is a cut above
The "Rough Guide" series is primarily intended for a British/Australian audience, but American readers will nevertheless find them very good resources. In fact, the different perspective may make it more valuable than the Fodors/Frommer's standards. The Guide for the Sunshine State is no exception. Much more honest and balanced than most guides, it pulls no punches and comes off genuine in its recommendations. When the writers don't care for something, they say so. It's a refreshing change from the glossy chamber-of-commerce copy that is typical in most travel guides. While nothing revolutionary, this series is definitely a cut above the norm.

great and useful!
Rough Guides are really good at telling it like it is and the Florida one is no exception. I had it on a recent trip with me and it never led me astray.

Silver Moons, Black Steel
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Del Rey (30 October, 2001)
Author: Tara K. Harper
Average review score:

Story answers some questions, but...
This is the 6th book in the Wolfwaker series, and is a worthy addition to the series. I felt conflicted as I read the book, because the underlying thread of this series has been following Dion's adventures, yet the real focus is on a new character named Talon, a raider. It's an adjustment to shift perspectives, and see life through the eyes of a raider since we've grown to dispise them as much as Dion. I felt myself wanting to find out more about Dion throughout the novel, and hoping that the story would shift back to Dion's perspective. Still, I found the story engaging, and couldn't put the book down...

It looks like Tara Harper may be ready to move away from Dion while staying within the same world. I only wish Tara would give us more information on some of the secondary characters like Rhom, Tehana, Gamon, and Gray Hishn. I love the Wolfwalker series, but I wonder how many books Tara has left in her that adds to the legend of Dion...

the missing book
here it is the book that was skiped in the series.
It fills in the missing time before Ember Dione's girl is born.

This book was amazing...It had me turning pages until the wee hours of the morning because i wanted to find out who was hunting her through the wolf bond and why.

Dion is suffering from many personal losts and she is trying to hide from all the people who are making demands on her life. The Elders who want her to scout and heal for them, the Wolves who want her to keep her promise to rid them of the plague that haunts them, and the mysterious hunter who she can feel through the pack song.

Like all of Harper's books, i was drawn into the story and could feel the stress and pain that all the characters felt....especially Dion's.

This is a series i can read over and over again and it will never get old. Can't wait for the next one to come out.
